1stXI - SCC 5/84 def GSCC 81

Liam Smith

“A grade won the toss and batted. Ryan Hartley and Jake Higgins started off positively getting the boys to 0-21. From there it was a constant loss of wickets and struggled to build any momentum getting bowled out for 81. Jake Higgins top scored with 21.

The boys started well with the ball creating plenty of chances early and got themselves back in to the game having Strathfieldsaye 4-33. Unfortunately they couldn’t get another run of wickets and Strathfieldsaye finished 5-83. Kyal Rasmussen & Scott Trollope the pick of the bowlers with 2 wickets each.

Tough start to the season but only round 1 and a good opportunity to bounce back against Bendigo.”

2ndXI - GSCC 8/152 def SCC 134

Mat Christie

”We won the toss and elected to bat on what looked to be a good one day wicket. Luke Baird (20) & Joey Doolan (12) started off well with a 33 run opening stand. From there we lost our way a little with consecutive wickets falling to be 5-47. First gamer Jackson Adams (20) & Max Grant (15) steadied the ship to put on a handy little partnership and get us back in the game. Mitchell Kemp (33) & Connor Miller (19) provided the partnership of the game and gave us a total to bowl at.

Our start with the ball wasn’t the greatest and the Jets got off to a quick start. After the shaky start we managed to tie the batsman down with some tight bowling from Cameron Blencowe (1/23 off 8.3) & Dylan “The Situation” Robinson (0/21 off 9). Then spin twins Harry Burke (1/19 off 5) & Jamie Bysouth (3/22 off 9) took crucial wickets to have the Jets on the back foot. Connor Miller (1/16 off 6) showed that his death bowling is a great asset to have making it tough for Strathfieldsaye to score. Some outstanding fielding and pressure towards the end of the innings was shown by Luke Baird & Joey Doolan to both get direct hit run outs to seal the game.

A great all round effort and we cannot wait to take on Bendigo next week in the Grand Final rematch.”

3rdXI - SCC 7/103 lost to GSCC 1/154

Brad Perrow

”We won the toss and batted, we got off to a slow but steady start until around the 8th over where Alex stepped it up and Matt River Nihill also contributing well just not hitting to the fence as much as LX
By over 12 we were motoring without a loss of a wicket until  there was only 2 balls remaining . With Perrow closing out the innings.
Bowling - all bowlers done there job with Mathew Bourke staring claiming 2 wickets and 2 catches,  assisting Hannah Flood also got 2 wickets in her 1st senior game.
Eli Flood bowled a tight line for his 3 overs.
Overall a great team effort to claim the win”
