Date of Event Golden Square Cricket Club : Fri Sep 20, 2019 8:36AM

The Golden Square Cricket Club is pleased to announce it will be entering a women's side into the BDCA Women's competition for the 2019/20 season. There has been great interest from a number of women around the Golden Square community and we could not pass up this fantastic opportunity to be apart of something very special.

In the clubs 100+ years, we have never had a women's team. For those who will be participating this season, they will be making history at Golden Square and we cannot wait to see them take the field for the first time on Sunday 27th October.

Golden Square Cricket Club president Max Grant has given the following statement on the history making decision

"This season the Golden Square Cricket Club is looking to form its first ever women's only cricket side. Whilst the club has had female players in the past, never before has it had a standalone side. We are delighted to be able to provide a platform and pathway for women's cricket in Bendigo."

The GSCC's women's side will play in the BDCA's newly formed Women's competition where games will be played on a Sunday morning from 10am. Matches will be played under the Twenty20 format and will last for roughly 2-3hrs each Registration is $50 and will include a GSCC playing shirt and cap. The club will also be providing equipment for players to use at training and on matchdays (pads, gloves, helmets, bats, etc). Ther will be a match day fee of $10 per player to help cover the cost of the balls, equipment, etc. If you have any trouble registering, please feel free to contact any of the following: Club email: GSCC Senior women's club contact: Paul Abbott - 0408 994 986 Secretary: Corey Van Aken - 0447 989 695 President: Max Grant - 0438 336 832
